I first worked with Principal Xu, Tianzhong in the fall of 2002.  From the very first time we met, I have been impressed with his heart for education and his zeal to ensure that quality instruction is the norm at his school.  Principal Xu has worked diligently to provide an educational atmosphere that ensures the students receive high quality instruction that prepares them to become world citizens.

One of the ways that Principal Xu ensures this high quality education is that he actively encourages his staff to hone their skills so that they are always refining their already strong instructional strategies and modeling what a lifelong learner looks like.  This is evident in the fact that one of his teachers was the very first elementary teacher              ever selected by the US – China Relations Committee to be an exchange teacher in the United States.  His support and encouragement of this teacher opened the doors for additional exchanges and facilitating immersion education in the United States.  I was able to witness this first hand, because I had the good fortune to be the Principal of Woodstock Elementary School in Portland, Oregon when this wonderful teacher worked with my students for a year.  From this experience, Principal Xu, and I have worked together to create trainings for teachers in educational strategies that support language acquisition.  

Xu, Tianzhong is a man of integrity who has visions of what can be and then proceeds to find ways to make his vision and dreams reality.  He is not afraid of hard work and as a result, many of his once abstract ideas are now fully functional and considered part of normal practice.  Skybridge International is an example of how Principal Xu has taken his hopes for the future and turned them into a successful venture that supports Mandarin education in the United States.  

I am pleased that Xu, Tianzhong is being honored for the many accomplishments that he had made in the field of education.  Because of his caring, knowledge and hard work, a generation of young people is better prepared to succeed in our changing world.  For all of this, I say “Thank You”.   I consider it a special privilege to call you not only a valued colleague but also my friend.

这里有一个很好的例子。苏州实小的老师当中有一位很早被“美中关系委员会”选中赴美进行交流教学的老师。徐校长对此给予了大力的支持，从而使这位老师在美的教学交流中得到充分的发展。作为美国波特兰Woodstock小学的校长，我很有幸见证了这位老师的优异表现。有了这次经验，我便与徐校长一起合作，致力于老师的教学技能和语言的培训。

徐校长是一个具有教育梦想并能全身心投入的校长。通过刻苦的实践，徐校长已经证明了他所提出的许多教育理念的先进性。Skybridge International天桥国际就是徐校长打开教学思路，将中文教育推向国际化的经典例子。

徐天中校长在教学领域的各个方面都取得了卓越的成就。对能和这样一位优秀的校长称为朋友我感到无限荣幸。
